Venue network checklist

Make the iPad connect before the room fills.

Use this checklist with venue techs when EzyTimer needs an iPad controller, phone remote, confidence display, or local display on the same network as the Windows 11 show laptop.

Step 1

Same network first

Put the Windows 11 show laptop and every iPad, phone, or display on the same Wi-Fi SSID, hotspot, or production router. Avoid public guest networks when possible, and confirm the remote URL opens on the iPad before rehearsal.

Step 2

Firewall prompt

When Windows asks whether EzyTimer can communicate on the network, allow local private network access. Retry the remote link after allowing the prompt; if the laptop is locked down, ask IT to allow EzyTimer on the local network.

Step 3

Venue Wi-Fi isolation

Some venue Wi-Fi blocks devices from seeing each other. That breaks local controller discovery even when the internet works. Ask about client isolation or captive portals; use a production VLAN, laptop hotspot, or dedicated router if needed.

Step 4

Laptop hotspot fallback

Windows hotspot is the fastest backup when venue Wi-Fi is busy, isolated, or handed out too late. Test the hotspot name and password before doors, keep the laptop plugged in, and reconnect the iPad after enabling it.

Step 5

Dedicated router option

For larger shows, bring a small production router so the timer network belongs to the show team. Connect iPad control and confidence displays to that router, and test with the actual show devices, not just your phone.

Step 6

Show Ready check

Run Show Ready check… from the EzyTimer tray menu after the controller connects. Confirm the Show Ready network row passes, and use Save diagnostic report if support or venue IT needs proof.

Important show-day rule. EzyTimer remote control does not need the public internet during the show, but it does need local device-to-device access. If the venue network blocks that, use the laptop hotspot or a dedicated router.
